Day 1, almost over...

Okay so I wasn't going to write a blog, but the encouragement last night to start one in addition to being told by everyone I come in contact with that I am their guinea pig, I have decided to keep an account of my first, possible only, Master Cleanse. My friend at work began doing a cleanse with food involved but explained to me idea of the Master Cleanse which was invented by Stanley Burroughs in the 40s, who later wrote a book in the 70s, The Master Cleanser, and was recently popularized by Peter Glickman's book, Beyonce and Robin Quivers. Because I recently had an allergic reaction to hemp seed oil on my skin, I decided this could be a great way to rid of the hives seeing as Pregnasone didn't work. Aside from that, other accounts I have read blogs on seem pretty positive, claiming increased energy, weight loss and loss of addictions ie: caffeine and refined sugars. My main goal is to cleanse my digestive system but if I learn to eat more healthy and lose a few pounds along the way, it can't hurt.

With the first day almost over, I am going to begin with last night when I drank the Senna leaf tea, the natural laxative, which is blah, not my fav at all. I misread and didn't drink the salt water wash in the morning, so my stomach felt a little funny all day. It takes forever to make the "lemonade", be forwarned, don't wait until the last minute to do it. Matt and I spent a few hours on it and we decided to make a few days supply because it's really annoying to squeeze all of those lemons and we wanted to get it overwith. It takes about 5 large lemons to make a full days supply, about 7 small ones.

The lemonade, per cup, consists of
2 tbsp fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/10 tsp cayenne pepper
2 tbsp grade B organic maple syrup
and enough water to make about 10 oz.

You are supposed to drink between 6-12 of those a day.

We definitely messed up and put way too much lemon juice in for the first 4 days supply so I will let you know if I burn a hole in my esophagus. Of course I am just being paranoid as usual. It is 8:45pm and I am currently drinking my 5th glass of lemonade, I also woke up around noon. I had a cup of mint tea a little while ago, which is permitted and apparenly also stirs up your system.

I want to go watch my new Weeds dvds, so I'm going to wrap this up. My final feelings on Day 1 are that I am not really hungry, but I totally wanted a bagel this morning when everyone else was eating one. The lemonade tastes ok, but I'm a little nervous for the salt water drink in the am.
